Winner Announcement

BritishBikes1970 sponsor a local rider on a borrowed 24MX4* in the AMCA British Classic Motorcross Championship

Amidst the relentless downpour and the unforgiving terrain of Honiton's MX track, Paul Andrews, a seasoned racer, found himself battling not just the competition, but also the elements on his borrowed 24MX4.

“A bit of a struggle," Paul recounts, a hint of adrenaline still lingering in his voice. "The mud was relentless. I even had to call for a tow just to get out of the car park!"

Behind the scenes, Paul's Greeves 24MX4, faced its own set of challenges. "Teething problems," Paul shrugs, a faint smile playing on his lips, “but nothing we can't handle."

Front brakes that refused to cooperate on steep descents, a fractured exhaust threatening to dampen the roar of the engine, and an oversized back tire clogging up the works, but for Paul they were merely hurdles to be overcome.

"Thankfully," Paul adds, a note of gratitude in his tone, Britishbikes1970.com had our backs." New brakes and control cables arriving to tame the wild descents, a repaired exhaust to restore the engine's symphony, and the right sized back tire (100x100) to keep the momentum rolling – all just a click away at Britishbikes1970.com

"We’re in good company”said Paul - they do spares, with advice, repairs, restorations and sales at www.Britishbikes1970.com

Well done Paul for coming 3rd despite all these issues!

FALCON SHOCKS - Big shout out to Falcon shock absorbers who created a bespoke lightweight aluminium set of nitrogen filled shocks for Paul’s weight and riding style, and delivered them in 3 working days - according to Paul they worked great! https://www.falconshockabsorbers.co.uk

Past Greeves Championship: Woodford 17.03.24

‘‘A week and a bit until Woodford so still time to get the bikes looking the mutts nuts.

Just a reminder, we have a trophy to win on the first day out. I'm donating this nice little silver trophy for the best competition bike entered into the Dave Harper Greeves Championship.

Its a trophy from 1962, awarded by the Wetherby Motor Club, who ran trials and scrambles back in the day, so has some nice history. Pete Griffith is judging, on behalf of our host club, and he will be looking for the 'best' competition bike.

This is a broad description to be as inclusive as possible, so not necessarily the fastest, or most original, or best presented, or most technically improved. So he might pick a battered old Hawkstone, still covered in mud from last year but absolutely ready to do a job. Or he might pick an immaculate twin port with shiny chrome and pristine fibreglass.

Who knows... what I do know is, if you're not booked on at Woodford, you probably won't win 😜 see you there.’’
